Thousands of 9/11 family members sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General William Barr on Tuesday demanding access to up to 25,000 pages of government documents kept from them in their lawsuit against Saudi Arabia but turned over to attorneys defending accused 9/11 terrorists being held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

With support rising in the Senate for a resolution urging a broad declassification of government records related to 9/11, a judge has ruled that Saudi Arabia isn’t entitled to blanket secrecy for documents it produces in court.

UPDATE July 20: After backing off a plan to exclude the public from some of Thursday’s hearing about how much the FBI should have to disclose about 9/11, a federal appeals panel in Miami appeared to favor the idea of ordering a trial judge to hold a rare Freedom of Information Act trial.
