Responding for the first time to allegations that as a U.S Navy JAG officer in 2006 he oversaw the brutal forced feedings of Guantanamo detainees, Gov. Ron DeSantis sought to play down his involvement in an interview broadcast Thursday.

Before he was governor, before he was a congressman, Ron DeSantis was a Lt. Commander and JAG lawyer in the U.S. Navy, serving at the Guantanamo Bay terrorist detention camp in Cuba and Fallujah during the Iraq War.
